How to reconstitute SS-31

  1. Wipe both vial stoppers with a fresh alcohol swab and let them dry.
  2. Draw 2 ml of bacteriostatic water into a syringe.
  3. Insert the needle at an angle into the SS-31 vial and let the water run slowly down the inner wall — do not inject directly onto the powder.
  4. Do not shake. Gently swirl the vial until the peptide fully dissolves.
  5. Store the reconstituted vial refrigerated (2–8 °C / 36–46 °F) and use within roughly 28 days.
  6. Draw each dose to the unit mark shown above for your target 2000 mcg dose.

About SS-31

SS-31 (elamipretide) is a synthetic tetrapeptide that selectively concentrates in mitochondria, binds cardiolipin on the inner membrane, and stabilizes mitochondrial structure and function.

Half-life: Approximately 4 hours (subcutaneous)
Typical dose range: 2–40 mg (2,000–40,000 mcg) per day in clinical trials; research protocols vary widely
Class: Mitochondria-targeted tetrapeptide

SS-31 calculator FAQ

Is this a SS-31 peptide calculator or a reconstitution calculator?

Both. This SS-31 calculator converts vial strength, bacteriostatic-water volume, and target dose into milliliters and insulin-syringe units. It does not recommend a medical dose.

How much bacteriostatic water for a 10 mg SS-31 vial?

This page is pre-filled with 2 ml of bacteriostatic water for a 10 mg SS-31 vial because that is a common research ratio. You can adjust the water amount in the full calculator.

How many units is a 2000 mcg SS-31 dose?

With the default 10 mg vial and 2 ml BAC-water ratio, the preview above calculates the U-100 syringe units for a 2000 mcg dose. Change the dose if your protocol uses a different amount.

Does this SS-31 dosage calculator give medical advice?

No. It only performs unit math. Dosing, titration, and whether SS-31 is appropriate are clinical decisions that should be made with a licensed healthcare professional.
